Happy Spring Break

Dear Parents,

I wish each of you a happy Spring Break!

Just to let you know what’s been going on in Room 9:

In Math, the students are learning a new way to multiply larger numbers called Lattice. Ask them to teach it to you! It’s a really fun way to multiply and it keeps the numbers organized much better than the traditional method. Next week (after break) we’ll be moving into long division.

In Reading/Language Arts, we’re into poetry. Yesterday, the kids explored onomatopoeia by creating a sound map of the construction site outside our classroom. We even colored the sound words with the colors the children saw in their heads. Students have been creating poems, reading poems and reciting poems.

In Science, we’re research the life cycle of the painted lady butterfly in anticipation of our very own caterpillars. Hopefully they will arrive soon!

Enjoy the break!

Ms. Howard
