Dear Parents,
Next week, our last week before Spring Break, will again be very busy.
On Monday, all 2nd grades students will be presenting Science projects they've been working on with our science/technology teacher, Mrs. Henderson. It will be a great opportunity for the children to practice presentation, listening and questioning skills.
We will continue our poetry study by examining and writing poems with alliteration, personification, similes and onopatopoeia.
In math, we're learning decimals to the tenths, hundredths and thousandths place. We've been using money as an example to learn decimals. This is a challenging concept and we're using hands-on materials like hundreds blocks, pennies and dimes to make the decimals more "real." We'll also be moving on to various strategies for solving two-digit multiplication problems (algorithm, lattice, etc.)
We're hoping the caterpillars come soon to begin our study of the life cycle of the painted lady butterflies.
Friday will be a Spring Sing put on by the 4th and 5th grade chorus students.
Here's to learning!
Ms. Howard
